Add working interest categories
To simulate farm in/out situations or complicated contracts, you can set up separate WIs for different variable categories. For example, in a joint venture between two companies, Company A is responsible for 40% and Company B for 60% of the exploration capital, but all other costs and revenues are divided between them in the proportion of 80% to 20% respectively.
Note: If a WI category is marked as optional, you must specify shares for it; otherwise, variables belonging to this category will not have net values calculated even if the default WI split is set up. To check if a category is optional, open the Regime used to create the project (see The General tab).
To set up separate category shares:
- On the Palantir tab on the ribbon, click on
and the Working Interest window will be displayed.
- In the Working Interest window, click on the Add Category button.
- Select a category in the Working Interest Category List dialog and click OK.
- A new tab named after the selected group will appear next to the Default tab.
- Switch to the new tab and specify the working interest. Changes to WI will be applied to that category across the life of the project.
Note: If any partner's share is 0% for a particular category, leave this partner on the diagram with the share of 0%. If you delete this partner, it will be removed from the WI setup completely.
